A Lifeline of Hope and Humanity
Project Rakt Setu is dedicated to saving lives by organizing regular blood donation camps and raising awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and thalassemia prevention. We aim to build a strong, compassionate network that connects generous donors with those in urgent need.
Our Mission & Purpose
Why Blood Donation Matters
Critical Need: India needs an estimated 14.6 million units of blood a year. In 2024-25 the country collected about 14.6 million units, around 70% from voluntary donors, but blood is still not always available where and when it is needed.
Thalassemia Awareness: About 4.2 crore (42 million) people in India carry the beta thalassemia trait, and 10,000 to 15,000 babies are born with thalassemia major every year. Carriers are healthy; children born with thalassemia major need regular blood transfusions.
Emergency Response: Accident victims, cancer patients, and mothers during childbirth depend on the generosity of voluntary donors.
Our Vision
To create a society where no life is lost due to blood shortage and where every individual is aware of thalassemia prevention, building a network of compassionate donors.
